Summers in the Johnson City, TN area always bring tons of exciting new events for everyone in the community to enjoy. The city has a unique personality and offers many modern and historical sites to visit and places to hear great music. Below, we highlight some of the upcoming events you can enjoy in Johnson City, TN, as well as the Kingsport, Jonesborough and Greeneville areas, as well. 

July 9th – Sunset Yoga and Pizza

This combination is sure to make for a relaxing, delicious evening! Hosted at the gorgeous Serenity Knoll Farm, you’ll be treated to a one-hour Slow-Flow + Yin yoga class, and afterwards, you’ll get to make your own brick-oven pizza from scratch. Once it’s done cooking, grab a slice or three of your pizza and watch one of the farm’s brilliant sunsets amongst great company! Just bring your yoga mat, and snacks you may want while waiting for your pizza to cook, and, of course, any drink of your choice (alcohol is welcome)!  All in all, this is one of the better ways to spend one of your Summer evenings!

July 18th – The 55th Annual Pit Style Pulled Pork BBQ Sale

Tennessee is famous for their delicious take on barbeque, so make sure you don’t miss out on amazing food when the Hardins Chapel Ruritan Club hosts their 55th Annual Tennessee Pit Style Hand Pulled Pork BBQ Sale. 800-1,000 pounds of pork will be slowly cooked to perfection for 24 hours, and once it’s pulled from the heat, the meat will be coated with delicious Tennessee barbeque sauce. 

The event offers these customizable options for you and your family or friends. 

  • BBQ option- 1 full pound of delicious hand pulled pork for $10.00
  • Side bundle option- An 8 pack of buns, chips, 1 pint of beans, 1 pint of slaw and a 1/2 gallon drink for $10.00

Drive-through options will be available all day so that you don’t have to leave your vehicle if you don’t want to, plus, delivery will be available all day, as long as it’s within a reasonable distance from the event. 

Reserve your ticket in advance or stop by the day-of so you can feast to your heart’s content while supporting the local community!

July 25th – Color Pop Pet Portrait at Skillville

Tickets are still available for one of Skillville’s most popular art classes. Reserve your seat and learn how to paint a portrait of your pet in the fun and expressive color pop style! Plus, this class welcomes all skill levels, so don’t feel shy if you’re not exactly a pro! It can be a great way to spend a relaxing, creative evening painting a likeness of your furry best friend!
