What You Need To Know About Ford Electric Vehicles

The automobile industry is moving towards greener vehicles, and car manufacturers continue to introduce cars running on alternative fuels. Ford is one of the leading car manufacturers in the world and the company currently offers two electric vehicles: the Fusion Hybrid and the Fusion Energi. Here’s what you should know about Ford electric vehicles.

2019 Fusion Hybrid

As the name suggests, the Ford Fusion Hybrid has a combination of a gasoline engine and an electric motor that draws power from a Lithium-Ion battery. Let’s take a look at the car in detail:

  • Trim Levels

The 2019 Fusion Hybrid has four trim levels: S, SE, Titanium and Platinum. The S is the entry-level model and the Titanium and Platinum are two higher-end models with more advanced technologies. The company offers different features in package form. If the trim level you select does not have any feature the company offers, you can buy the package and make the feature part of your 2019 Fusion Hybrid.

  • Power and Performance

All Fusion Hybrid models feature a 2.0-liter Atkinson-cycle inline-four HEV engine with a permanent-magnet AC-synchronous electric motor. All Fusion Hybrid models come with a CVT. The gasoline engine along with the electric motor delivers 188 horsepower while the gas engine makes 129 lb.-ft. of torque. The fuel economy of all models is the same: 43 MPG city/41 MPG highway.

  • Safety and Security

All models come with standard safety features like dual-stage front airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, front seat-side and side-curtain airbags. The sedan also has electronic stability control with brake-actuated traction control, a tire pressure monitoring system, and Ford’s SOS Post-Crash Alert System.

  • Infotainment

The standard infotainment features changes with trim levels. The S and SE come with AM/FM stereo/single-CD player with MP3 capability and nine speakers while the Titanium and Platinum models get a premium audio system from Sony with 11 speakers.

2019 Fusion Energi

The 2019 Fusion Energi is a plug-in hybrid which means you can charge the battery at a battery charging station and don’t have to wait for the battery to get charged by a gasoline engine.

  • Trim Levels

The Fusion Energi has only one trim level: Fusion Energi Titanium.

  • Power and Performance

The Ford Fusion Energi features the same engine as the Fusion Hybrid. Since the engine specs are similar for Ford electric vehicles the horsepower, torque and fuel economy remain the same.

  • Safety and Security

The safety features offered for Fusion Energi are the same as the Fusion Hybrid. The list of standard safety features include airbags for all occupants who include seat side, knee, and side curtain airbags. Other safety features worth mentioning are electronic stability control with brake-actuated traction control. The Fusion Energi also has the Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist package as standard which includes driver-assist technologies like includes lane-keeping system, auto high-beam headlamps, blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert and pre-collision assist along with an automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection.

  • Infotainment

The Fusion Energi comes with an audio system from Sony with AM/FM stereo/single-CD player with MP3 capability, 12 speakers, and HD Radio.

The difference between the Fusion Hybrid and Fusion Energi is quite clear. If you are looking for convenience along with environmental friendliness, the Fusion Hybrid is right for you. If you are looking for greener vehicle between two, the Fusion Energi is the car for you.
